Headteacher's update 8

Published on 16/04/20

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you and your families are well and that your child has found time to enjoy some time outdoors in the sunshine today as well as getting on with some work set by teachers on Weduc. Thank you for continuing to regularly check Weduc for updates from teachers.

Setting Work

We have reviewed the way we are setting work going forward to ensure it is as accessible as possible for all students to complete, and is not over-burdensome on parents/carers who are supporting their children. We will continue to use Weduc to set work, and have asked teachers to ensure the resources shared and the instructions are very clear. Teachers will also continue to be mindful about expectations of the amount of work their students can produce at home, recognising that all students have different home circumstances. Please encourage your child to work through the work they are set at their own pace and to produce the best work they can. Please do not feel pressured to meet every deadline if circumstances at home make this difficult.

Ski Trip Clarification

Apologies if communication over the cancelled Year 10 ski trip to Austria has not been clear. To be absolutely clear - we are seeking a full refund of monies paid by parents of those booked onto the trip from our insurers. We will send out further communications to parents/carers when the claim has been processed by the insurers. There are no plans to postpone the trip until a later date given uncertainties about when foreign travel will become possible again and given that our current Year 10 will shortly become Year 11s and embark upon the most important year of their school lives.

Maths Challenge

Congratulations to the many students who entered the maths department’s Easter challenge! We had lots of fantastic entries. As seems to the trend at present we received many fantastic photographs of the maths-related baking some students enjoyed!

Thank you for your continued support.

Take care,
