Headteacher's update 10

Published on 20/04/20

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope that you are all well. As we enter our fifth week of ‘lockdown’ and our third week of remote learning, I wanted to reiterate my thanks for the support you’ve given school and your children over this difficult time. Thank you for continuing to check Weduc for the home learning that has been set by your child’s teachers.

Speculation regarding schools returning

You may have seen that there has been a great deal of speculation in the media over last few days regarding when schools will reopen to more or all students, and how schools may have to modify the provision they offer to help manage the Coronavirus crisis. To be clear, we have had no communication from the Department for Education regarding when or how school may reopen to a larger number of students. We are, of course, working hard behind the scenes to ensure that we are prepared to reopen when the time comes. In the meantime, we will continue to open for the small number of children who are attending our skeleton school provision and to set learning remotely for the large majority who are working from home.

Free School Meals

Having signed up to he government-endorsed voucher scheme to provide free school meals to those children who receive them, we are pleased that these vouchers have now begun to be issued, and will replace the food that we were providing from school to those children. Thank you for your patience as we set up the voucher system.

Thanks again for your continued support.

Take care,

Joe Birkbeck
