Good afternoon,

I hope that you and your families are well. We have had another busy and successful week at school, with lots of positives to report!

YEAR 11 MOCK EXAMS

Thank you to our Year 11 students who have worked very hard this week in their mock exams. Conduct in exams has been very good, and students have shown a real desire to achieve the best grade possible. Teachers have already begun marking the papers and giving feedback to students. As always, there will be some students who have made great progress towards their ambitious targets, and others who still have lots of work to do. Teachers of Year 11 will now work with their students to close any knowledge and skills gaps over the coming weeks. Year 11 teachers will offer detailed feedback to parents/carers at Year 11 parents evening in January, prior to our second mock exam week in February.

FLU VACCINATIONS

If you have consented to your child receiving the flu vaccine in school this year, this will take place on Monday. Vaccines will be administered using a nasal spray and we are hopeful that all students with consent will receive their vaccine on Monday. We will be able to catch-up any missed vaccinations on Tuesday.

COMMUNITY SPIRIT

Well done to Alfie, Maxwell, Nathaniel and Kolbie from Year 9 who this week helped a member of the community when they got into difficulties at Crystal Peaks. This person’s carer felt compelled to contact school to report how polite, respectful and helpful our students were in helping this person to get home and get the support they needed. Thank you, boys!

SPORTING SUCCESS

Congratulations to our Year 9 boys football team who were victorious in a mini-tournament on Wednesday evening. And thank you to our Sports Leaders who led a fantastic ‘Sports Hall Athletics’ event yesterday for children from our local primary schools. I spoke to some children from one local primary school as they left, and they all wanted to become Sports Leaders when they come to Westfield!

With many thanks for your excellent support,

Joe Birkbeck
