Headteacher's update 21

Published on 11/05/20

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you are all well and that you were able to enjoy the VE Day weekend. Thank you for continuing to check Weduc for the home learning activities that your child’s teachers continue to set.

Government announcement about school reopening to some year groups

As you will have seen last night, the government has given notice that schools could reopen to Year 10 students, providing them with some time in school before the end of the academic year, if certain conditions have been met. We are waiting to see the detail of this proposal from the Department for Education.

I will be discussing this over the coming days with both school and trust leadership teams and governors/trustees to assess what is possible. There is a lot to consider but I want to reassure you that both student and staff safety will be our overriding priority in these discussions.

As I am sure you appreciate, this is a complex situation. Please be patient with us whilst we take the time to thoroughly investigate the proposals and their implications. I will of course share information with you once I am able to do so.

In the meantime, I appreciate that the government announcement may cause uncertainty for our students, so we will continue to focus on supporting them with their remote learning and wellbeing. As ever, if you or they have any concerns, please contact your child’s Head of Year or Pastoral Manager with pastoral concerns or your child’s teachers for subject specific support.

Year 7 ‘Assembly’

Our first virtual  assembly has now been recorded and is available on our website. The assembly is for our Year 7 students and has been put together by Miss Hopkinson and Mrs Robinson. You can view the assembly on our Virtual Assemblies webpage here.

VE Day Celebrations

Thank you to all students and their families who took part in our VE Day celebrations and set us pictures of the fantastic VE Day themed work they’d produced. Mrs Hunter received lots of photos. Here are just a few:

Thank you for your continued support.
