Head of Humanities: Mr Dickinson

beyond the classroom

Over the past 5 years there have been a number of educational visits for students studying Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 History. Previous visits have included trips to the Holocaust Memorial Centre in Nottinghamshire, a visit to the Thackray Medical Museum in Leeds for those studying the History of Medicine, and a residential World War One Battlefields trip to France and Belgium.

There have also been events in school that have provided opportunities for pupils to handle genuine artefacts from the past and learn from experts in their field. The Hands on History collaboration between Museums Sheffield and the University worked with Year 7 last year on a day enjoyed by all. Similarly, Year 10 last year benefitted from a  day visit from Frontline Living History and their World War One Battlefield Medicine presentation.
