Prior to these sessions, our students had spent several weeks researching the issues around persecution, asylum and refuge. The opportunity to meet with people who had fled their native countries and have now settled in the UK, created an opportunity for our students to develop a fantastic understanding of the human stories that underpin our lessons.   

PSHE teacher and subject leader, Mr Skinner, said, "The level of empathy shown by our students and the probing questions that they asked our guests was a joy to witness and every class was a credit to our school. Feedback from our students has been excellent and, as a result, these sessions are now to become a permanent feature of our curriculum.  As a school, we cannot thank both City of Sanctuary and our Year 10 students enough."
